Which Players Fill Out Your BTSH All-Star Team?
Monday, June 2nd, 2014
Editor’s Note: Let’s keep in mind this is only supposed to be in the spirit of good, clean fun. It’s intended just to spur a little debate and get our minds back on BTSH hockey after a long break. The prices are set based on 2014 performance and what we think is the perceived talent of each player. Let’s try not to take this too seriously. 🙂
April 26, Pay for Charity, Win for Glory Part 2
Monday, April 14th, 2014Anyways, we are reposting this because there were no games yesterday and this is a lot of fun. I went to it once in 2010, played on Derk’s wife’s Michelle’s team, went 0-2-1 then snuck on another team and won the championship. Joe P. and Suvin also did the same thing as me but Rachel Greene only thinks one of us is an asshole. Anyways, go to this event, its fun and the after-party is usually epic. At least it was in 2010 when Caroline smacked Joe P. 50 times for being a Flyers fan. It was deserved.
The Org is Back!
Tuesday, March 18th, 2014A Special Message from Rich Glanzer
Nothing screams BTSH more than Derek taking creepy photos of unsuspecting girls eating chicken wings and Eli making a semi-witty caption of the picture. In other words, we’ve heard your critiques, and we want you to come back to the website. So we brought back league legends Derek and Eli.
Here are a few promises for this season…and they’re all good:
- Don’t worry, BTSH.org will not be all about wrestling, the Elves, and the Norrises (Norri). Dave Soko’s nationality and Alex Eben Meyer’s ridiculous socks will never be mentioned from here on out. In other words, new jokes, new themes, and very few wrestling or private jokes.
- The website will be updated multiple times a week during weeks we have games and probably at least once–if not more–during off weeks.
- STATS! Whether you want stats (98% of us) or don’t (Phil and Adriano), you are getting them. Derek will put the scores of all the games up by the time Carrie is crying in Homeland. Before you tuck yourself to sleep, he will have the leading scorers for both the men and the women on Mondays. That’s right, we will have the top women goal scorers included on the stats page. (Sorry Suz, you need at least one to be listed)
- More variety and videos. The videos will never be longer than two minutes and many times, they will be under one. We have a lot of segments planned for the videos, and only one of them is wrestling related! (We said there would be very few, not extinct…)
- The ladies of Math are planning a fashion segment.
- Interaction. The website is only as good as you, the BTSH Universe makes it. The reason the Elves got so much pub over the years is because Ben, Trevor, Shaun, Jenna, Jerome, Sarah T. and I all commented. If you want us to write about your team or even yourself, let us know, and we will.
So get ready for an awesome BTSH season. Division previews will be posted this week and next. The Org is back!
Coach Youth Street Hockey this Winter!!
Thursday, November 21st, 2013Street hockey need not go into hibernation just because BTSH takes a break. Be part of the NY Rangers/Parks Dept. program that introduces New York City kids to the sport of hockey through an indoor winter street hockey program. We need volunteer coaches to show the kids what it’s all about — stick handling, passing, shooting, scoring!
Never coached or worked with kids before? No problem. You’ll get all the training and tools that you need. Wonder if you’re qualified? If you meet these requirements, then you’re qualified:
— know how to play hockey
— can communicate
— love hockey, and want to give NYC kids a chance to love hockey, too!
Please see the message from our Parks liaison, and BTSH member, Sarah. There’s a training session this Saturday, where you can get screened on-site. I’ll be there, along with other coaches from BTSH from last season. Why not bring a teammate with you and coach together? And if you’re not sure about making a commitment, we have lots of part-time coaches. Even if you can help out once a month, it’s a huge help, and it’ll mean the kids will get the instruction they need to learn and love the game.
There’s also some nice perks for the volunteer coaches — a free uniform, possibly free Rangers tickets, and other surprises.
Please let Sarah know if you’re coming. I hope to see you there!
Sincerely yours,
Bob Weyersberg

Hi All,
We’re getting closer to the start of the NYC Parks Street Hockey program and we are still looking for volunteers. If you are interested please fill out the attached Volunteer Application and email it to my work email: sarah.cantatore@parks.nyc.gov. I need to have them no later than Thursday, November 21st.
Volunteer Orientation will be Saturday, November 23 from 10am to 3pm at Chelsea Recreation Center. (Returning volunteers that have been fingerprinted already can come at 11am). Please bring a photo ID. We’ll have equipment but you may want to bring your stick, especially since there will be a volunteer vs. staff scrimmage!
Also, online registration is now open for the program here: http://www.nycgovparks.org/
Thanks everyone! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email me.
