Filthy Gorgeous finished another productive regular season in 2010, boasting the league’s top offense.  Familiar faces led the way as Sunny Mehra and “Gentleman” James Pereira topped the team’s scoring with 14 and 11 goals, respectively.  However, despite this regular season success, the season once again ended on a disappointing note when the Corlears Hookers eliminated Filthy from the playoffs for the third consecutive year.  Moreover, this postseason loss may have been the most painful yet, as the game-winning goal came in overtime after Filthy Gorgeous had rallied from a four-goal second half deficit.  The loss came just hours after captain Monica Russo’s wedding to Poutine Machine captain Patrick “Sven” Larsen.

Despite the bitter end to the 2010 season, Filthy Gorgeous once again enters the season as a top contender.  However, some of the team’s supporting players will have to play a bigger role this year, as “Gentleman” James Pereira will likely be out for most, if not all, of the 2011 season with an undisclosed upper body injury.  Russo has highlighted the following players and expectations for the team in Pereira’s absence:

• Sunny Mehra – lead the team in scoring once again and finish in the league’s top 10
• Dan “D.O.” Owens – average under 2 GAA per game and score one empty-netter
• Matthew Novick – don’t get hurt
• “Gentleman” James Pereira – wear the navel-grazing V-neck proudly from the sidelines, even when the rest of the team is wearing navy blue
• Rebecca Antar Novick – continue to be the undisputed fan favorite of BTSH and don’t let Matt get hurt
• Caroline Currie – stay out of the crease
• Brett Karley – don’t believe anything Derek or Eli writes, I will tell you the game times

If the team follows these simple guidelines–and doesn’t meet the Corlears Hookers in the playoffs–a championship is well within reach.

Entity They Resemble, According to Rich Glanzer: Greg and Marcia Brady. All the Brady kids had their flaws, but they could always count on Greg and Marcia to set them straight. Marcia was a very talented driver, and Greg gave her emotional support. The girls on Filthy are unquestionably the best female group in the league, and the guys much like Greg, don’t suck either. However I heard Greg’s father did. Filthy has the team spirit, and the talent to win it all. But if they face the Sky Fighters or WTP in the playoffs, I don’t like that matchup.
Fast Fact: 20% of Filthy Gorgeous is either married or getting married.  Monica Russo thinks this is lame.
