With a new team name, new philosophy, and largely different roster, captain Eric Devlin’s squad underwent some major changes this offseason.  The primary change is that the team will no longer be called the Bad Touch.  Instead, it will now be known as Mega Touch.  He explains , “We’re trying for some sort of karmic shift, away from bad vibes and towards something more positive.”

Despite its poor record last season, the team remains optimistic about its chances for 2009.  Although the team managed only one regular season win (against the Happy Little Elves), its play picked up immensely in the playoffs and consolation games.  The highlight came in the play-in game, when the Bad Touch defeated the Gouging Anklebiters despite playing the entire game 3 on 5.  Devlin notes, “We felt that our game started to come together towards the end of last season.  We had less than stellar attendance, but those who were there all came to play hard and brought a good attitude.”  The rebranded Mega Touch was created with this new mentality as Devlin has sought players with the passion and drive to pick up where last season left off.

If nothing else, Devlin adds, “I feel we also boast both the highest quality and quantity of bearded men in the league.”

  1. 2002? mega touch, under various monikers, has been in the league since it’s founding! a little fact checking please.

  2. showtime says:

I dont care what anyone says..I played on BAD TOUCH and the people who showed up were the most dedicated players to the team. These guys still kick ass and will suprise u when u let your guard down.

I also remember the saying before games… ” WHEN WE TOUCH THEM,WE TOUCH THEM BAD”

  3. HockeyRich says:

They kicked our ass bad last season. And before you say, “Who didn’t?” I’ll tell you who didn’t… the Hookers, WTP and Denim Demons. They beat us all by one goal.

Then we played them while they were shorthanded the whole game and they took us to OT, where we beat them when we were finally even strength.

They definitely have a good core, hopefully some of the free agents are better than the guys/girls that left.

  4. eli says:

The 2008 preview for the Bad Touch also states 2002 as the year founded…and no one disputed that fact last year. Also, I originally pulled 2002 as the founding year from SB’s 2006 league preview email…so we’re not the only ones who think Mega Touch/Bad Touch began in 2002.

  5. devlin13 says:

i can’t believe you dropped the black eyed peas again. ugh.

  6. doucetwtp says:

yay! another fellow everett-ite! welcome brett 😉

  7. devlin13 says:

wait, how does Rabi already have a nickname. she hasn’t even played a game yet!

  8. MartinO says:

Hey in my defense, I drunkenly thought I was signing up for a Joe Montana fan club… Okay, maybe that’s no defense…

    Either way, go touch!

Oh and yeah, 2002 was the official start of bad touch as bad touch, but it was an amalgamation of teams that had been around since the very first scrimmage of BTSH back when the league was too punk rock for goals. 🙂

  9. lena says:

I think you’re overlooking the awesome Demon bearded men…..Zack Tinkelman, Adam Ruebens….there’s probably some more but they’re quality.

  10. devlin13 says:

even though Greg and Martin shaved after I submitted my comments, I will stand by our beards. Alex and I alone have a staggering amount of beard power.

  11. bread says:

    Thanks, Michelle!
Guess I need to grow my beard again, huh?
