Week 6 Preview
Thursday, May 7th, 2009The Sky Fighters Are Hungry For A Win
GAME OF THE WEEK
Sky Fighters (3-1) vs. Dark Rainbows (3-1)
Location: Tompkins East, 2:00 PM
All-Time Series: Dark Rainbows lead 3-2
Game Notes: After a successful 2008 campaign, the Sky Fighters have continued to wow a once skeptical BTSH crowd. They have won three of their first four games, with the lone blemish coming at the hands of the What The Puck juggernaut. Under the smashmouth approach of captains Amy Lott and Dan Hopper, their staunch defense has only yielded seven goals so far this season, highlighted by holding What The Puck to its lowest one game total. Unlike the rising Sky Fighters, the Dark Rainbows have been perennial contenders for several seasons. After a season opening loss, they have won their last three games in a row and seem poised to once again finish towards the top of the standings. They boast an extremely balanced and deep offensive attack, as their 12 goals have been scored by seven different players. The outcome of this Schloeder Division game will likely hinge on whether the Sky Fighters’ vaunted defense can hold the Rainbows’ multi-dimensional offense in check.
Keys To The Game:
1. Despite the Sky Fighters claims otherwise, defender Martin “Ocho Cinco” Cejka is the primary component of their offensive attack. His seven goals represent half of their total scoring.
2. Trevor “White Jesus” Tyrrell’s transition back to offense has gone swimmingly. He now leads the Rainbows in scoring with three goals.
3. Dark Rainbows captain Sean Reynolds is brimming with confidence. He boasts, “We wear pink and it’s Mother’s Day. How can we lose?”
Eli’s Pick: Dark Rainbows. Sean’s logic works for me.
Derek’s Pick: Sky Fighters. Sean’s logic would work better for me if their jerseys weren’t faded to white.

Week 17 Preview
Thursday, September 25th, 2008Everything’s Coming Up Rehabs
GAME OF THE WEEK
Dark Rainbows (10-5-1) vs. Rehabs (10-4-1-1)
Location: Corlears North, 2:00 PM
All-Time Series: Dark Rainbows lead 4-3
Game Notes: The Rehabs have had a season of large ebbs and flows this year. After a mid-season three-game losing streak, they have been on fire in recent weeks and won their last four in a row. Despite having to adjust to the losses of key players Jon “Dinner Plate” Feldman and Stacy Kehoe, they have scored twenty-eight goals in their last three games, while allowing only three. The Dark Rainbows, on the other hand, have struggled lately, losing their last two games and scoring only three goals since returning from the break. However, they can glean some hope from their last few games, as goalie Trevor “White Jesus” Tyrrell has returned to his usual form. In the month of September, he has allowed only five goals, including a shutout of a very potent Fresh Kills offense. With only one point separating these two teams in the standings, playoff positioning will be at stake.
Keys To The Game:
1. Dark Rainbows superstar John Nielsen had been conspicuously absent for several weeks until returning to the lineup last Sunday. Throughout the first part of the season, he had been towards the top of the league scoring leaders, and the Rainbows will need him to return to form.
2. Since transferring to the Rehabs, Andy Levine has averaged more than a goal per game. This mid-season acquisition may have been the spark the Rehabs needed to ignite their once sputtering offense.
3. With all of the Rehabs star power and bar notoriety, Mike “Cupcake” Bartlett and Lateef Nurmohamed both seem to get lost in the shuffle. However, both are capable of multi-goal games and are just as dangerous as some of their more renowned teammates.
Eli’s Pick: Rehabs. They finally appear to be realizing their full potential.
Derek’s Pick: Rehabs. The Rainbows may make a deep run in the playoffs, but for now, the Rehabs offense will just be too much to handle.
