Maybe This Is Why Anita Left

GAME OF THE WEEK
HOCKEY NIGHT IN TOMPKINS (National Telecast)
Mathematics (0-0-0-1) at Rehabs (1-0)
Location: Tompkins East, 5:30 PM
All-Time Series: Rehabs lead 3-0-1
Game Notes: Due to a flurry of offseason player movement between the Mathematics and Rehabs, this once friendly rivalry has become a lot more intense.  The Mathematics struck the first blow with the additions of league sideshow Hector “$howT!m3” Melendez and Sean “$howJu” McClain.  While both served as key components of the Rehabs’ offensive attack last season, the Mathematics targeted Melendez for his goaltending skills and their own amusement.  In retaliation for these acquisitions, the Rehabs added former Mathematic Anita Khar to their roster.  Although Khar’s ice hockey background makes her one of the top female players in the league, the Rehabs may have added her to fill the tomfoolery void left by $howT!m3 and $howJu’s departures.
Keys To The Game:
1.  Despite losing their opener to Poutine Machine in a shootout, the Mathematics controlled the majority of play throughout the game.  They will need to maintain this control to beat the explosive Rehabs.
2. While the Rehabs were victorious in overtime against the Happy Little Elves last week, they blew leads of 2-0 and 3-2.  This may play to the Mathematics’ strength, as the team overcame several halftime deficits last season, in addition to one last week.
3. This game marks the culmination of a week-long birthday celebration for Hector “$howT!m3” Melendez.  Other events include a flip-cup tournament, a piñata, and an ice cream social.
Watchability: 4.5 $howJus.  The personalities on both sides of the ball should make this a very exciting game.

Stork Has Finally Passed The Torch

"Danberg" and Welch

GAME OF THE WEEK
Fresh Kills (9-8-0-1) vs. Rehabs (11-5-0-3)
Location: Tompkins West, 2:00 PM
All-Time Series: Rehabs lead 5-4
Game Notes: Both of these Rubens Division foes enter this tilt playing some of their best hockey of the season.  Fresh Kills has now won its last four games and finally has a record above .500.  The recent surge started with an upset victory over LBS, Inc., when Fresh Kills held the league’s fourth ranked offense to just three goals.  In the three games since, the defense has stiffened up even more, as the team allowed just two goals (including two shutouts).  The Rehabs have won five of their last six games.  It is no coincidence that their recent run of good fortune began when they added free agent Adam Skuse to the team.  He has scored all nine of his goals during this six-game stretch, making him the team leader in goals.  The Rehabs opened their season with a 4-1 win over Fresh Kills, a feat they will look to duplicate as the season winds down.
Keys To The Game:
1. Dave Sokolyansky leads Fresh Kills with 12 goals.  His brother, Mike, is also on the team and has assisted on all of Dave’s goals.  However, he has repeatedly declined to be recognized, due to his modest nature and acute shyness.
2. During one of Alex “Villano VI” Zabala’s two goals last week, Rehab defender Stacy Kehoe ran to congratulate her teammate but tripped over a crack in the Tompkins pavement.  This instantly elevated the celebration to the status of “saddest ever in BTSH.”
3. Rehab forward Rob Blandi has scored six goals in the team’s last six games.  Interestingly, the only time he did not score during this stretch was in their one loss.
Eli’s Pick: Rehabs.  A win will be a nice belated birthday present for captain Meredith “Danberg” Ficarelli.
Derek’s Pick: Rehabs.  Another big game for Skuse will lead the team to victory.
Watchability: 4.5 Lessers

Hello Czech Republic!

Analytics

As a thank you to you, the loyal reader, we, the writers, thought we’d give you a snapshot of who’s going to btsh.org, and how they are getting there. Here are some interesting facts and figures we have noticed, taken directly from Google Analytics:

1. While the bulk (96%) of site traffic comes from the United States, one of the highest ranked foreign sources is the Czech Republic with nearly 20 visits in the last month.  Undoubtedly, this can be attributed to Martin “Ocho Cinco” Cejka’s large following in his fatherland.  However, a more interesting trend may be that Uganda ranks directly behind the Czech Republic with approximately 16 visitors.  We speculate that this trend can be attributed to Jason Eitel’s large following in his fatherland.

2. Unsurprisingly, more than 90% of the site’s New York state visits are from New York City.  The next three highest locations all come from western Suffolk County (Ronkonkoma, Yaphank, and Brentwood) and account for a combined 4%.  According to league registration records, a certain Happy Little Elf, who is one of the site’s most frequent commenters, happens to reside and work in this region.

3. The top keywords that have brought people to the BTSH site are as follows: “btsh”, “btsh.org”, and “btsh tuques”.  Clearly, the “Tuques hockey.” marketing campaign has worked, as the team is now one of the hottest trends on btsh.org.  Already, a “Cobra Kai hockey.” campaign is in the works for next season.

4. The title for most searched individual on btsh.org belongs to the Rehabs’ own Stacy Kehoe, the namesake for the Stacy S. Kehoe Award for Toughness & Grace.  The following keywords all made the top 20 searches (in rank order): “stacy kehoe new york,” “stacy kehoe btsh,” “stacy kehoe pics,” and “stacy kehoe.”  We can only imagine what type of “stacy kehoe pics” one might be searching for, but if nothing else, we do recommend the photo from the 2008 Week 3 Box Scores.  Other high-rated Rehabs searches include “chantel arroyo,” “btsh rehabs,” and “romeo goalie rehabs.”

5. Although league veteran Zack Tinkelman of the Denim Demons ranks nowhere near the top keyword searches, his father, Joe Tinkelman, cracks the top 25.  In fact, he ranks as the most popular Demons-related search, almost doubling the next in line, “chernoski.”
