Denim Demons at Mega Touch (by Eli)

Can anyone figure out the Demons? They beat Fresh Kills last week, knocked off Greene Division leader Cobra Kai, and handed the Elves their only loss of the season.  Yet despite these impressive victories, they sit in fourth in the competitive Brown Division and only have a goal differential of plus one.  Expect that goal differential to look better after Sunday, as the Demons prevail, 5-1.
Derek’s Pick: The Demons knock off another Greene Division team with a dominant win.  I’ll agree with Elly’s score of 5-1.
Rich’s Pick: 5-1 Demons sounds good.

The Asian lady in the Heckle Wall also predicts Demons 5-1.

What The Puck at Poutine Machine (by Eli)
Very few people made their way to Ace after last Sunday’s games, but of those who did, What The Puck was strongly represented (so were the Sky Fighters, but since this isn’t their game preview, that’s all the press they get). We were asked if we were ever going to pick What The Puck again, and we responded with an immediate yes. So here’s our upset pick of the week. What The Puck with a 2-1 win, as Corey Winters uses the emotional high of seeing Huey Lewis and the News–one of his favorite bands–perform after Saturday’s Mets game to lead his team to a win.

What The Puck, all you need to do is listen to Huey Lewis…and Bo-lieve!

Derek’s Pick: I will pick WTP again, but not against Poutine’s dominant defense and goaltending. 2-0 for the Fighting Svens.
Rich’s Pick: Ever since Jordan went to the Kremlin he has been bullying us into picking them. Not this week Jordan…not this week. 3-1 Pouts.

Happy Little Elves at La Famiglia (by Eli)
First place in the $h0wT!m3 Division is on the line, as the streaking Elves face off against the slumping Famiglia in the first of their two meetings this season. The Elves have won six in a row and have the top-ranked offense in BTSH. While La Famiglia has lost two of their last three games, we see goalie Tim Kayiotis putting up a stellar effort and ending the Elves’ streak, 3-2.
Derek’s Pick: Denis is due for one of his and Elves superstar Ben Chadwick is floating around Europe somewhere.  Something has to give.  La Famiglia takes this one 4-3.  Call it revenge for that season opener in 2008.
Rich’s Pick: The Tuques can never get revenge for 2008. Never. No prediction for this one…too many variables including is Brugger dead or alive?

Gouging Anklebiters at Fresh Kills (by Derek)
Fresh Kills has actually looked somewhat human in recent weeks, uncharacteristically losing its last two games and dropping three of its last four.  Of course, that one win was dominant: 9-0 over Filthy Gorgeous, so who knows.  Meanwhile, the Biters have looked great, tallying seven goals against What The Puck last week and five against Filthy the week before.  We’ll go by the common opponent (Filthy) theory here and say Fresh Kills wins by four goals…uh, 5-1.  That’s how it works, right?
Eli’s Pick: I’m pretty sure they have more than one common opponent, so that theory is specious at best. I still think Fresh Kills wins, though, 2-0.
Rich’s Pick: Wrong place, wrong time Anklebiters. Nothing personal but this one’s not for you. 6-2 FK.

Dark Rainbows at Corlears Hookers (by Derek)
After a somewhat surprising loss to Cobra Kai in Week 9, the Hookers came roaring back in Week 10 with a convincing 7-2 victory over LBS, Inc.  Although they are no longer undefeated, they are still the current class of the league.  The Rainbows are looking good these days as well, as they enter the game on a mini two-game winning streak…largely on the strength of offensive juggernaut Aaron Friedman, who netted his first goal of the season last week against the Rehabs.  Nevertheless, the Hookers take this one convincingly, 5-0.

Eli’s Pick: I already used up my one upset pick for this week. Sorry Rainbows, Corlears takes it 4-1.
Rich’s Pick: Wrong place, wrong time Rainbows. Nothing personal but this one’s not for you. 6-0 Hookers.
