Word of the year.<\/p><\/div>\n

Emojis are the future, whether you like it or not. \u00a0Since their creation in the late 90s, emoji adaption has skyrocketed and shows no signs of slowing down. \u00a0Emoji\u00a0was named Oxford Dictionaries\u2019 Word of the year. \u00a0Whenever Apple wants people to adopt to their latest iOS version, they simply tell people if they upgrade they get new emojis, and it works like a charm. \u00a0Books like Moby Dick (http:\/\/www.emojidick.com\/<\/a>) have been translated into emoji and of course The Bible (http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/06\/03\/business\/media\/the-word-of-god-now-available-in-emoji.html<\/a>) as well.<\/p>\n

But what about hockey? \u00a0The \u201cIce Hockey Stick and Puck\u201d emoji finally debuted last year, but different companies have different views about how they should look.
\"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

Like the rest of their style, Apple\u2019s emoji is slick and simple. \u00a0Google\u2019s is a mess however. \u00a0The tape on the shaft resembles a field hockey stick, and the puck is gigantic. \u00a0Samsung\u2019s looks like clip art, and LG\u2019s is sort of a mix between Apple\u2019s and Samsung\u2019s. Twitter focuses on the blade and uses a very strange looking orange wood. \u00a0Emoji One\u2019s kind of looks like a child taped the blade and has a gigantic puck. \u00a0And last, emojidex looks like a family crest that I fully expect a BTSH team to adopt on their next t-shirt.<\/p>\n

And speaking of BTSH, the lack of emojis is a very real problem. \u00a0And until Unicode 415 comes out in the distant future and gives each team their logo, let\u2019s try to emojify each team.<\/p>\n

Notes: The Martial Arts Uniform emoji won\u2019t be released for a few weeks, but that shouldn\u2019t stop Cobra Kai from using it. The words \u201cFresh\u201d and \u201cKills\u201d don\u2019t really have emojis, so a nod to their Staten Island roots will have to suffice. Beer before liquor, never sicker for Gut Rot. And the Riots not only have the longest BTSH name, but also the longest emoji string, which seems appropriate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
