{"id":1685,"date":"2009-08-20T22:30:02","date_gmt":"2009-08-21T03:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/?p=1685"},"modified":"2011-11-11T14:42:15","modified_gmt":"2011-11-11T19:42:15","slug":"week-18-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/week-18-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 18 Preview"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>This Little Patch Has Turned Around The Rehabs&#8217; Season<\/h4>\n<p><!-- p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!-- with apologies to Derek and Eli, I was asked to removed this picture of SSK --Ben C. --><!-- \/a --><!-- \/p --><\/p>\n<p><strong>GAME OF THE WEEK<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Tuques (6-10) vs. Rehabs (8-4-0-3)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Tompkins East, 5:30 PM<br \/>\n<strong>All-Time Series:<\/strong> Rehabs lead 6-5<br \/>\n<strong>Game Notes: <\/strong>After struggling at various points in the season, both of these teams now seem to be headed in the right direction.\u00a0 Since starting the season 1-8, the Tuques have five of their last seven games and are currently on a three-game winning streak.\u00a0 During this three-game stretch, their offensive attack has exploded, averaging more than seven goals per game.\u00a0 Newcomers Denis Miciletto and Shafiq Perry have led this\u00a0charge, accounting for seven and six August goals, respectively.\u00a0 After snapping a six-game losing streak two weeks ago with an emphatic\u00a07-2\u00a0pasting\u00a0of Cobra Kai, the Rehabs continued their success last week with a solid 4-3 defeat of the Mighty Squirrels.\u00a0 Although the team\u00a0features one of the most balanced offenses in the league, forward Dave Fraser stepped up and scored two goals against the Squirrels, including the game-winner.\u00a0 More Rehabs will need to follow Fraser&#8217;s lead if they want to knock off the surging Tuques.<br \/>\n<strong>Keys To The Game:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. In addition to the Tuques&#8217;\u00a0new blood on offense, rookie defenders\u00a0Adam Robertson and Jason Mandell have been\u00a0the key cogs to a much\u00a0improved defense this season.<br \/>\n2. The Rehabs have only allowed 31 goals on the season, ranking them third in BTSH.\u00a0 Anthony Romeo&#8217;s goaltending abilities not withstanding, this is a true testament to the skills of their women, as the Rehabs\u00a0are the only team to use an all-female defense.<br \/>\n3. After tearing a ligament in her right knee, Rehabs defender Chantel Arroyo must wear a cumbersome brace for all games.\u00a0 There&#8217;s nothing funny about ligament tears.<br \/>\n<strong>Eli\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> Rehabs.\u00a0 The $wagger is back.<br \/>\n<strong>Derek\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> Tuques.\u00a0 Captain Dave Ladanyi&#8217;s &#8220;new superstar iniative&#8221; foreign exchange of Martin &#8220;Ocho Cinco&#8221; Cejka, Robert Kucera, David Cernan, and James Stein, the Mathematics have signed the following players for this game: Pavol Demitra, Marian Hossa, Ziggy Palffy, and Cam Ward.<br \/>\n<strong>Watchability:<\/strong> 2 Grande-Capones.\u00a0 All of the current and former NHLers, as well as Martin &#8220;Ocho Cinco&#8221; Cejka, will be available after the game for autographs and pictures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mighty Squirrels (5-10-1) vs. Mexican Standoff (3-12-0-1)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Tompkins West, 2:00 PM<br \/>\n<strong>All-Time Series:<\/strong> Tied 3-3-1<br \/>\n<strong>Game Notes: <\/strong>In the first game between these\u00a0Schloeder Division squads, the Mighty Squirrels\u00a0defeated Mexican Standoff 3-0.\u00a0 The game featured the goaltending debut of the Squirrels&#8217; Eric Ramirez, who was credited with the shutout.<br \/>\n<strong>Eli\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> Mighty Squirrels<br \/>\n<strong>Derek\u2019s Pick:<\/strong> Mighty Squirrels<br \/>\n<strong>Watchability:<\/strong> 2.5 Grande-Capones.\u00a0 As with their first game, the extracurricular activity could prove more entertaining than the game itself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unicorns (9-7) vs. Cobra Kai (3-11-1-1)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Tompkins East, 3:00 PM<br \/>\n<strong>All-Time Series:<\/strong> Unicorns lead 4-0<br \/>\n<strong>Game Notes:<\/strong> Unicorns forward Susannah faces her former team, Cobra Kai, for the first time since signing with the Unicorns as a free agent during the offseason.\u00a0 When Cobra Kai faced off against What The Puck and former Dojo member Adriano &#8220;Muscles Marinara&#8221;
