{"id":17079,"date":"2018-03-16T15:14:23","date_gmt":"2018-03-16T19:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/?p=17079"},"modified":"2018-03-16T15:14:23","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T19:14:23","slug":"opportunities-in-btsh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/opportunities-in-btsh\/","title":{"rendered":"Opportunities In BTSH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Interested in getting closer to Sam and harassing new League Managers or just getting more involved in the league? \u00a0Well, then here are some opportunities:<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Referees<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure games are played according to the Rules &amp; promote player safety.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure games start on time.<\/li>\n<li>After a game, ensure that the game sheet, including any player write-ups, are provided directly to the Ref Manager and League Manager before putting sheet in ref binder (ex. send a pic of the sheet to Ref\/League Manager or other method agreed to by Ref Manager).<\/li>\n<li>Also, you get to blow a whistle!<\/li>\n<li>Paid position.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NOTE:\u00a0<\/strong>If you\u2019re interested in being a ref, email the Ref Manager, Sam N., at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Sam@btsh.org\">Sam@btsh.org<\/a>\u00a0&amp; the Ref Scheduler, Alexa T., at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:alexa@btsh.org\">alexa@btsh.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Game Day Opener\/Closer<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the point person who will assist with game day issues that arise.<\/li>\n<li>Arrives early\/stays late to help the designated team fulfill their duty to open\/close the courts (informs League Manager if a team isn\u2019t fulfilling this duty).<\/li>\n<li>Helps BTSH Members address issues that arise on game days, including equipment needs (balls), access to first aid kit, scheduling questions, access to permits, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures refs are available and helps find a substitute ref, if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Communicates any equipment or supply issues to League Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Covers shift for either the first or second half of BTSH games (roughly 3 to 3.5 hours). Opener\/Closer may sign up to take one or both shifts in a given week. The League Manager may fulfill this role in a given week and get paid to do so.<\/li>\n<li>~$40\/shift (to be confirmed)<\/li>\n<li><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0If you\u2019re interested in opening \/closing, email the BTSH League Managers, Brian H. &amp; Sarah H., at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:commissioner@btsh.org\">commissioner@btsh.org<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Media Writers<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Write standard articles such as Three Stars and weekly Previews.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate on creative articles with other media writers.<\/li>\n<li>Submit articles to Media Manager in a timely fashion.<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to the media content policy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> If you&#8217;re interested in being a media writer then reach to Isaac on the sidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Rules Committee <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The purpose of the Rules Committee is to review existing BTSH playing rules (\u201cRules\u201d) and propose revisions.<\/li>\n<li>The Rules Committee is formed annually at the End-of-Season Meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Rule revisions should be presented to Captains at New Season Meeting, with the Rules amended by the start of the season, as set forth below in \u201cPlaying Rule Changes\u201d).<\/li>\n<li>The Ref Manager shall be a member of this committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Community Outreach Committee (A.K.A. League Darlings)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This committee ensures that BTSH is giving back to the community (not only is this the right thing to do &amp; part of our BTSH credo, but we need to keep our good standing in the community so we keep the privilege of using T.S. Park.)<\/li>\n<li>Stay informed of what&#8217;s going on in the neighborhood (liaise with the Community Board, Police Precinct, attend community meetings, etc.).
