\nOpening Day Crew and New Commishes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arriving to the courts as the Opening Team means that you could be in store for just about anything.\u00a0 Special shout-out to the Denim Demons who cleaned up debris, shoveled snow with their sticks and had the brilliant idea to fill the fence holes with it. Those who played on the East Court definitely appreciated it (Karma did).<\/p>\n

Man, that’s almost enough blow to get us through June.<\/p><\/div>\n

New nets and cages!\u00a0 Woo-hoo!\u00a0 A huge round of applause to Sarah and the Brain, our new Commishes, and Shotgun Charlotte, local goofball, for procuring new nets and cages for the league.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been asking for them for years and you actually listened. \u00a0Thank you.<\/p>\n

That being said, none of it would have been possible without the sweet hookup by the second best Stewart in all of BTSH. We owe you a beer.<\/p>\n

Second Star<\/strong>
\n Mia from Sky Fighters<\/strong>

Mia from Sky Fighters succeeded in knocking one in against the Anklebiters, with a deft deflection off her stick. Save your applause – Anklebiters defender Joe P contested the goal, citing a high stick on Mia. Reports are that her stick was above Joe P\u2019s waist but below the crossbar.<\/p>\n

You wear the gasface well, Joe.<\/p><\/div>\n

Now, speaking as a one of BTSH small-but-mighty, a stick above my waist versus, say, Chadwick\u2019s waist, is a substantial differential. We implement rules that keep sticks close to the ground not as much to protect the Joe P\u2019s of the court, but the Mia\u2019s and Cat\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Further, I think it\u2019s in every competitor\u2019s nature to fight tooth and nail for their goal, even if OK maybe the stick was a little bit high!!!<\/p>\n

FURTHER further, Anklebiters won that game 9-1\u00a0so it’s not like they needed the cushion.\u00a0(Are we giving a star to them for booing their own Ben P’s 5th goal? I hope so. Man, do not put me in charge of Stars, Isaac – everybody will get one, I’d also like to add whoever left an unopened bag of Doritos.)<\/p>\n

In an act of true diplomacy and sportsmanship, before the refs made any ruling, Mia conceded the goal.<\/p>\n

Master class in \u201cdon\u2019t be a dick\u201d y\u2019all – take notes, maybe you\u2019ll learn yourselves something.<\/p>\n

When it comes to league bars, everyone\u2019s a critic. Being a member of the social committee is not for the faint of heart. I say this as a person for whom even a custom ice luge could not lure me out of Brooklyn on a Saturday<\/span> night.<\/p>\n

This was pretty sweet.<\/p><\/div>\n

Probie was instrumental to the success of opening day. Turning a deaf ear to the naysayers, he brokered a special at Royale for Sunday<\/span>. Possibly even more key than the buckets of Bud Lite were the burgers – never play hockey and drink on an empty stomach.<\/p>\n

The reviews are in and Royale has got what you\u2019d call potential –<\/em><\/p>\n

“Royale was a great choice. Have always liked that place, and the owner\/manager + waitstaff seemed excited to have us. Great work Social Committee.”

High off praise, Ben has announced his intention to chat again with the owner to request for specials on mixed drinks and reserve a section of Royale\u2019s back patio as the weather warms. Best of luck in your negotiations!<\/p>\n

I would be remiss if I did not mention: Not only did Ben kill it on social engagement, he scored 5 goals during his game. He did in fact score so many that his own team booed him, but, still, that is damn impressive.<\/p>\n

Cheers to Ben for being a Fun Guy and a talented hockey player.<\/p>\n
