Greetings and \u2018gurgitations from the upper third of this oak tree, where I\u2019m waiting patiently for Sunday hockey so I can fly down and snatch your toupee! Yeah, it\u2019s pretty convincing, but my eyesight\u2019s keener than all you hockey wackos and besides, I\u2019ve got the better angle. You can learn a lot about the tops of heads from up here, and many other curiosities besides, if you pay attention. For example, did you know:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That\u2019s not a blocker on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/FB_IMG_1533569014276-20180810-084059261-20180810-084059331.jpg\">Mike T.\u2019s arm<\/a>, it\u2019s just a giant graham cracker\u2026?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/at-90-spunky-dr-ruth-westheimer-now-focuses-on-what-comes-before-foreplay\/\">Dr. Ruth is still alive<\/a>, and makes a pretty good living picking up your beer cans\u2026?<\/li>\n<li>Camden the dog is actually a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/inline__450w__no_aspect\/public\/rat_16x9.jpg?itok=mm1kmwg1\">naked mole rat<\/a>\u2026?<\/li>\n<li>Sam N. and Zach N. are actually the same person\u2014you were just too drunk to realize\u2026?<\/li>\n<li>Backwards baseball hat guys are 68% more likely to shoot and never pass\u2026?<!--more--><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sorry, fellas, that last one\u2019s a scientific fact\u2026 I read it in a pamphlet from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ\">Partnership for a Bro-Free NYC<\/a>. And speaking of fowl play, this week features not one, not two, but one and a half matches between 2017\u2019s top two teams for player infractions (see chart below). I expect one and a half glorious bloodbaths! It\u2019ll be like that time I accidentally invited both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2018\/03\/04\/east-village-bird-watchers-aflutter-over-hawk-s-two-mates\">Nora and Dora<\/a> to the same carcass. But, to give crypsis where crypsis is due, both these teams have cleaned up their acts a little bit\u2014or maybe they\u2019re just saving it for the playoffs. It\u2019s anyone\u2019s goose. Tracy and Jerome are class auks for sure. Poutine will keep warming the D3 roost alongside Karma and the Gremlins. Flap for your life, though, D4 teams, because next year the Demons are coming for your young (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HneaoFsPJ4E\">and they\u2019re screaming at the top of their lungs<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally these 1.5 match-ups also feature the teams with the most players of the same name (probably): Poutine has three Mikes, a Nic and a Nicolette, and goalies named AJ and RJ. Leaving aside the Fein, Klein, and two Rosens angle\u2014the law firm joke writes itself\u2014the Demons have at least three Zachs and two Brians. Poutine\u2019s got a Brian too. Hot tip for the Heckle Wall: yell all those names from the sidelines and watch every player turn and say \u201c<i>what<\/i>?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh, you want my game predations? Er, <em>predictions<\/em>? Neither team\u2019s blowing minds with the goalscoring numbers, but Poutine\u2019s got more defensive talon, having allowed half as many goals, so you gotta give them the fledge&#8230; My final caw is that we\u2019ll have a couple low scoring outcomes. In the full game, a pair for Poutine, including an empty nester, while the Demons lay an egg on their scoreboard. I see the Demons getting a goal in the half game. I drink and I know things.<\/p>\n<p>Aaaight, this bird on your blog\u2019s worth two in the bush. Gonna fly now, I\u2019m meetin&#8217; up with Ryan Spoonbill, Phil Kestrel, Artemi Canary, and Sidney Grosbeak for a 90-minute squawk at the <a href=\"http:\/\/nysec.org\/\">Society for Ethical Vultures<\/a>\u2026 Heads up for Sunday, I\u2019m gonna move all the hockey babies to different strollers and see if anyone actually notices\u2026 Bird up, around the world! Christo out! <i>Caw!<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fresh Kills (9-4-1-1) at Knife Bear Pigs (6-7-0-1), Tompkins East, 1600<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>by Hornswoggle<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This premier division rivalry will probably be the game you\u2019ll want to miss, honestly. Both teams are passing each other in different directions; Rachel\u2019s <em>crimson tide<\/em> (ew) is undergoing a losing streak and Soko\u2019s sneaker hockey starlets are experiencing an ascendancy that could land the squad in the top four for an eligible, imaginary \u201cball hockey Champions League\u201d spot next season. Rachel\u2019s pleas pre-season to me, Jo-Ann, and other Poutiners about trading division spots were all for naught, and even though they\u2019re not doing badly\u2014including wins over GANK, LBS, Inc., and the Rehabs\u2014I\u2019m sure they\u2019ve been exhausted throughout the season. On the other side, the \u201cblue man group\u201d has relatively enjoyed success for the most part in this iteration of BTSH, though not in pole position.<\/p>\n<p>Now I\u2019m going to shake up my writing style a smidge by describing these teams in the style of [relatively] current K-pop songs. I\u2019m not familiar with the BTSH community liking this genre, so click the links and see if they encourage you to appreciate Korean music and culture a bit more.<\/p>\n<p><u>Butchers<\/u>: BTS (<em>Bangtan seonyeondan<\/em>) \u2013 Go Go (<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8YpVt43Aqvk\">Music video<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/dQ3TCDlpX_k\">lyric translation<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The Crimson Tide, over the course of 2018, has displayed a certain amount of stubbornness and swagger in the Soko division. They\u2019ll likely be trading places with likely Caroline division winners Fuzz once we close the books for this season, but as I mentioned above, they\u2019ve won some matches against teams with firepower, which they can clearly brag about (it\u2019s important to boost team morale with these kinds of victories). With not much time left being in the top division, players like Tarzan, Brady, and Creamy will have to relish playing alongside some talented opponents. But the opposite side of the argument is that each of the four divisional rivals didn\u2019t get to the top division merely by chance, so every divisional rivalry is an opportunity to improve individually and collectively. \u201cWe\u2019re too young to just worry\u201d \/ \u201cFor today, just go instead of worrying\u201d means that results aren\u2019t everything\u2026 the Butchers will probably be \u201ckillin\u2019 it\u201d when they\u2019re in the second division.<\/p>\n<p><u>Fresh Kills<\/u>: Jo Kwon \u2013 Lonely (<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/DpObGkT0GZc\">Music video<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/gTlta41Nkb4\">lyric translation<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Okay\u2026 why a ballad, when we\u2019re more inclined to think that the Butchers are having a sadder season? First off, you can\u2019t literally butcher the Butchers for their first rodeo in the premier division. Secondly, considering the record Fresh Kills had in 2017, I think this is a steeper fall since the expectations preseason couldn\u2019t have been higher than they actually were, and this year they\u2019ve conceded even to a second division rivalry. Notwithstanding, their roster still stands superior and the players collectively, diligently, and stubbornly\u2014as much as the Butchers\u2014work to get the W, more often than not this season (five of their wins are by a single goal). Although Ariel and Gabe\u2019s tally equal to Butcher\u2019s collective tally\u2014sans Brady and Tarzan\u2014they still need to make more abundant their scoring opportunities; Fuzz and Filthier, respectively, have the first and second strongest partnerships this year and it may as well carry onto the playoffs. There\u2019s not much time left this season, but it\u2019s like that clich\u00e9d saying: \u201cIt\u2019s about the journey, not the destination.\u201d (Russell \u201cThe Provider\u201d is likely reading this, scoffing, \u201cYeah well f*** that s*** we\u2019re the best right now\u201d, with Will behind him scrawling \u201cLOL shootouts\u201d in his Xanga.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction<\/em>: Pretty nice afternoon, with light cross-breezes and fine amounts of umbrage from Tompkins trees and cloud cover. In a showdown between Timmy and Barch, Barch will have an easier time since the Knife Bear Pigs will prioritize an organized formation over a run-and-gun, dump and chase strategy. Meanwhile, Soko will tell his unit that the match will be nothing out of the ordinary, and Gabe will once again tally (\u00e0 la Cejka), having been inspired by Pavel Barber.
