Fresh Kills is one of the most veteran-laden and experienced teams in the league.\u00a0 However, in recent years, they have grown tired of playing hockey and have begun to pursue other interests.\u00a0 Rather than taking part in any winter scrimmages or practices, the entire team banded together to open a small Mexican restaurant in the Upper West Side, named Olmec’s Cantina.\u00a0 The kitchen staff is led by\u00a0head chef, Scott Townsend, who brings\u00a0more than\u00a0seven years of culinary experience to the eatery.\u00a0 Shouts of “Scott!” can often be heard throughout the restaurant, as head waiter Jeff Lesser collects his orders.\u00a0 Bartender Shane-O DeBlasio specializes in over fifteen margaritas, but highly recommends the Pabst Blue Ribbon.\u00a0 As is the case with most UWS hotspots, the line to enter is always long, but Heidi “The Maple Leaf Muscle” Karst guards the door from all unsavory characters.\u00a0\u00a0Once one gets past the gruff doorwoman, he or she is pleasantly greeted by the welcoming smile of host Kevin “Tiny” Foster.\u00a0 The restaurant has received a four star rating from Zagat’s and is available for catering.<\/p>\n
