{"id":3064,"date":"2010-06-29T22:42:00","date_gmt":"2010-06-30T02:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/?p=3064"},"modified":"2010-06-29T22:42:00","modified_gmt":"2010-06-30T02:42:00","slug":"week-10-news-and-notes-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/week-10-news-and-notes-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 10 News and Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Congratulations To Your 2010 Fairy Tale Cup Champions!<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/fairychamps.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3071  aligncenter\" title=\"Fairy Tale Cup Champs\" src=\"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/fairychamps.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/fairychamps.jpg 990w, https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/fairychamps-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After several grueling weeks of competition, a new team has emerged as the 2010 Fairy Tale Cup champions: the Dark Rainbows.\u00a0 With their 3-2 defeat of the 2008 and 2009 cup holders, the Unicorns, last Sunday, they have clinched this prestigious (yet imaginary) trophy.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Fairy Tale Cup pits the Dark Rainbows, Happy Little Elves, and Unicorns in an annual triangular series.\u00a0 With all three teams in the same division (Hackett)\u00a0this year, each team was originally scheduled to play two games against each of the other competitors.\u00a0 However, with one game (HLE vs. Unis) cancelled due to &#8220;rain fears&#8221;, each team&#8217;s winning percentage would determine its ranking.\u00a0 The Rainbows finished with six of a possible eight points, after sweeping the Elves and splitting against the Unicorns.\u00a0 Here are the scores for each game in this season&#8217;s series:<\/p>\n<p>Week 1: Unicorns 4, Dark Rainbows 0<br \/>\nWeek 3: Happy Little Elves @ Unicorns &#8211; Game cancelled due to &#8220;rain fears&#8221;<br \/>\nWeek 5: Dark Rainbows 4, Happy Little Elves 2<br \/>\nWeek 9: Dark Rainbows 5, Happy Little Elves 4<br \/>\nWeek 10: Dark Rainbows 3, Unicorns 2<br \/>\nWeek 11: Unicorns @ Happy Little Elves &#8211; Outcome has no bearing<\/p>\n<p>The Dark Rainbows are clearly excited about finally capturing the coveted prize.\u00a0 When reached for comment, Rainbow veteran Michel Walkley, who scored the game-winning goal against the Unicorns, exclaimed, &#8220;What&#8217;s the Fairy Tale Cup?&#8221;\u00a0 Josh Wilson, another long-time Rainbow, made sure to stay gracious and\u00a0humble\u00a0after the Rainbows&#8217; triumph, noting,\u00a0&#8220;Rich Glanzer can suck it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned Elves co-captain Glanzer, whose team is now 1-5 all-time in Fairy Tale Cup games, was crushed upon hearing of the Rainbows&#8217; victory.\u00a0 He lamented, &#8220;The dream is over.&#8221;\u00a0 However, the Elves can take solace in their current possession of the slightly less prestigious (but just as imaginary) Barnacle Bowl.<\/p>\n<h4>Dirty Laundry<\/h4>\n<p><em>Written by Fashion Correspondent Abigail Meisterman<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mulvapaulin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3075  aligncenter\" title=\"Mulva\" src=\"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mulvapaulin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mulvapaulin.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mulvapaulin-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.miyagimedia.com\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/mulvapaulin-300x297.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What better team to talk about this week than the Butchers? If you&#8217;ve been alive and listening to music over the past thirty years (or more for some of us), you may recognize the skull-face staring out at you. Eschewing the traditions of appropriating a logo or just creating one, the Butchers have gone for flat out thievery by lifting, without modifying, the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Misfits_%28band%29\" target=\"_blank\">Misfits<\/a> band logo. (Unfortunately, it&#8217;s not the evil band from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jem_%28TV_series%29\" target=\"_blank\">Jem<\/a>.) But why is this fitting for this week?<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, June 30 marks the release of the third movie in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetwilightsaga.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Twilight saga<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/movies?hl=en&amp;dq=twilight+saga&amp;sort=1&amp;q=The+Twilight+Saga:+Eclipse&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=iT8qTK7qCoL6lweeg_SPBA&amp;ved=0CC4QwAMoCQ\" target=\"_blank\">Eclipse<\/a>*. I know what you&#8217;re thinking, this team doesn&#8217;t have any sparkly vampires or were-puppies. (Or does it?! Captain <a href=\"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/benbloom.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Bloom<\/a> is a hairy guy, and Georgine Paulin wears sunglasses to cut down on the glare coming off the often shirtless chest of MIA-Jason Rosenstock!) What this jersey does have in common with the teen series is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.btsh.org\/bruise\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/butcherssleeve.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">symbol<\/a> on the sleeve of the Butchers&#8217; shirts: a steaming bowl of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tripe\" target=\"_blank\">tripe<\/a>.
