\nGame Notes: <\/strong>These two teams meet in\u00a0the quarterfinals after taking opposite paths to get there.\u00a0 Regular season champion What The Puck easily dispatched of a shorthanded and exhausted Bad Touch squad via the mercy rule.\u00a0 The team succeeded on both ends of the court as six different players notched a goal, while the defense and goaltender Roderick “Guy LeDouche” Cruz pitched a shutout.\u00a0 It should be noted, however, that team cancer Ant “Father Time” Ventolieri (though active) did not record any statistics.\u00a0 Conversely, Fresh Kills scratched and clawed their way through\u00a0their game\u00a0to a narrow one goal victory against a\u00a0peaking\u00a0Sky Fighters team.\u00a0 Stalwart defenders Scott Townsend and Bob “Olmec” Weyersberg stymied the fierce\u00a0onslaught of Sky Fighers attackers Martin “Ocho Cinco” Cejka and Rob Kucera.\u00a0 Fresh Kills will need to repeat this effort in order to upset the highest scoring team in the league.

\nGame Notes: <\/strong>Both of these teams advanced to the second round\u00a0after\u00a0outstanding performances by their respective goalies.\u00a0 Seth Wachtell\u00a0of LBS, Inc. pitched his first shutout of the season in a sound defeat of Mexican Standoff (who nearly skipped the game to go to the\u00a0beach).\u00a0 Karsten Pichon scored two goals, despite missing his linemate, the self-proclaimed cleanest player in the game, Ken “The Alpha Male” Poulin.\u00a0 For the Unicorns, Craig “Ug” LaCombe held the Rehabs scoreless, leading his team to a 4-0 victory.\u00a0 In typical Unicorns fashion, four different players\u00a0tallied a goal for the Yellow.\u00a0 Although the playoff implications for this game are obvious,\u00a0Poulin has introduced a new element as he has recently started to criticize LaCombe’s pasty white skin, claiming he stole that color from LBS, Inc.\u00a0 LaCombe responded that he was born that way, and if anyone should change, it should be Poulin and his crew.
\nEli\u2019s Pick: <\/strong>LBS, Inc.\u00a0 When Poulin speaks, his teammates deliver (see Corlears Hookers\/LBS, Inc. regular season matchup).
\nDerek\u2019s Pick: <\/strong>Unicorns.\u00a0 They have drawn little fanfare and press this season, but the Unis truly have three of the finest scorers in the league in Chris, Mark,\u00a0and Nelson.<\/p>\n

\nGame Notes: <\/strong>While the Corlears Hookers got a measure of revenge for their championship loss by beating the Dark Rainbows in the regular season, they will feel even better if they can knock the defending champions out of the playoffs.\u00a0 In the opening round, the Hookers soundly defeated Cobra Kai, on the strength of\u00a0a\u00a0stellar four goal\u00a0performance by Gavin “Dutch’s Brother” Kearney.\u00a0 In addition, key rookie Jason Eitel returned from the disabled list to chip in a goal of his own.\u00a0 The Dark Rainbows had a tougher time with their opening round opponent, as they barely squeezed by a faltering Mighty Squirrels team 2-1.\u00a0 Star forward John Nielsen continued to regain his mid-season form after a prolonged absence, as he netted\u00a0both of the Rainbows’ goals.\u00a0 Although this is only a quarterfinals matchup, it should have the atmosphere and intensity of last year’s championship game.

\nGame Notes: <\/strong>While both of these teams boast deep rosters, each advanced to the second round on the strength of stellar individual performances.\u00a0 James Pereira notched five of the seven goals for Filthy Gorgeous in their first round victory over the\u00a0Mathematics, including four in the second half.\u00a0 For the Denim Demons, Zack Tinkelman nearly doubled his regular season\u00a0output, as he scored four of the Demons’ five goals against the Tuques.\u00a0 However, captain Adam “Legend Killer” Rubens\u00a0was quick to mention\u00a0that the entire team contributed to the winning effort.\u00a0 For example, he highlighted Gabby Carson’s defensive prowess by noting that she can stop any male attacker in the league…aside from Mike “The X-Factor” Woodsworth of What The Puck.\u00a0 In light of this, Filthy Gorgeous captain Monica Russo has been furiously scanning the league rules to see if “The X-Factor” can be loaned to Filthy for the afternoon.
