Franchise Four: Fresh Kills
Thursday, February 11th, 2016When you have the longevity and the sustained success that Fresh Kills does, the candidate pool is going to be considerably larger than it is for other teams. Nevertheless, the selection committee is bound to only pick four players for each team, so the honorable mention here will just have to be a little deeper. And despite being in the league since its early years, this franchise can reasonably be split into two eras, the years prior to and after the Riots split after the 2009 season. We considered players from both eras, including those who spanned both, and here’s who made the cut.

La Famiglia vs. Fresh Kills
Friday, October 24th, 2014Fresh Kills and La Famiglia advancing to the semifinals isn’t exactly a surprise. All three of us picked La Famiglia in our preseason predictions to win the $h0wT!m3 Division, and sure enough, all three of us got it right. Now, I know what you are thinking here…if all three of us got it right, then Intern Nick got it wrong. Well, back in March, Intern Nick as a writer for the website was just a gleam in Richie’s eye. All three of us also picked Fresh Kills to win the Brown Division, and although we got that wrong, they did finish with the second best record in the league, so our forecasting wasn’t entirely off base.

We missed on some of our predictions, like Richie taking the guy on the left (no, that’s not Sebastian) to win the regular season scoring title.
Game Previews, Yo (Sept 21.)
Wednesday, September 17th, 2014La Famiglia at Fresh Kills
The winner of this matchup will have a clear shot at the 2 or 3 seed. If the Tuques win out, they are the 2 seed. If Fresh Kills wins out, they will finish no worse than 3. What this means is, if you win this game, you probably don’t have to face the Hookers until the finals…which is a really good thing, considering they are an approximate 17-3 in their existence (since 2007) in non-final playoff games.
Rich: The non-Elf in me is rooting hard for Fresh Kills, so we can get a possible Championship Game matchup of the two best franchises in the league. I think it will be a close low scoring game, with FK coming out with a 2-1 win.
Eli: Mike Dudolevitch, prominently pictured above, was not on the Rainbows in 2007. He might have been in high school back then. Fresh Kills, 3-2.
Derek: La Famiglia has struggled against the top division this season (even against WTP, they barely won), and this game will be no different. 4-1 win for FK.
Intern Nick: FK is too much to handle for all but the Hookers on a consistent basis, especially if they show their full lineup. Blue crew takes it 3-1.
Previews are Back!!!
Friday, September 12th, 2014So a lot of you have mentioned that you really miss the previews…so as always your wish is our command and we are happy to oblige.
