Who’s got crabs? (Spoiler alert: BTSH has FREE crabs this Sunday at Ace Bar!)
September 23rd, 2014
A/N: The below comes courtesy of our very own Joe Polowczuk. He’s the one with the crabs, not me. Though I’ll probably have crabs on Sunday, and you should too.
For those of you wondering about that lingering smell of seafood from the back of Ace Bar the previous two seasons one late August evening, it was the annual Gouging Anklebiters crab feast. This year, we’re taking the event league-wide after the games (come rain or shine). There will be 5 bushels of large Maryland blue crabs for your eating delight this Sunday, courtesy of BTSH and the effort of your league commish and Joe P., our league’s Old Bay Sunday Funday connoisseur.
What do you need to bring? An appetite and a few bucks to give as gratuity for the hardworking crew at Ace that will cleanup this huge mess when we are done. If you’ve never eaten these little crustaceans before, don’t ask Suz to help you crack them open, she takes an hour to get through one. Joe P. will provide a quick pre-feast seminar for anyone looking to maximize their piles of meat in return for a bottle of high life.
We hope you can make it out , watch some football, and try to out eat anyone from Maryland. Please note this feast is for BTSH players only! Anyone bringing in freeloaders will be humiliated and put on the over night cleanup crew.

Sept. 21 Previews – Part Two
September 19th, 2014What The Puck @ LBS Inc.
Nick: It’s been a rough year for WTP as they enter a bit of a rebuild. It will take some time for the team to come together, but I think they will bounce back nicely next season. As for this game, they’re running into a LBS squad that is gearing up for the post-season. I think the Corporation takes this one 5-1.
Eli: LBS, Inc. has used so many players this season that they’ll be happy to get out of this game without any more injuries. But a 3-1 win will be a nice bonus.
Rich: I probably should pick the Lbs. because I am going to try and convince Karstan to play in my Long Island hockey team. But I think WTP is going to win. So torn.
Derek: You could start by spelling Karsten’s name right. 4-1 LBS.
Dark Rainbows @ Mega Touch
Nick: Lots of recognizable faces in this matchup as Julie, Alex, and rookie stud Alok take on Aaron, Ramber (the Rachel + Camber celebrity couple name), and Abby. The rest of the gang is all there as well, and this should be a spirited contest between two high-energy teams. I’ll say that Mega wins it for Devlin, 3-2.
Eli: Devlin moved to California. Mega is playing for themselves now, but the Rainbows will take this one, 4-3.Derek: I think the Rainbows get the solid 4-2 win here.
Rich: Intern Nick, you mention all these players and not mention Bernstein?!?!? This is why you are an intern and no one believes in you. Dammit Nick! Damn you! (Mega wins 3-2)
Game Previews, Yo (Sept 21.)
September 17th, 2014La Famiglia at Fresh Kills
The winner of this matchup will have a clear shot at the 2 or 3 seed. If the Tuques win out, they are the 2 seed. If Fresh Kills wins out, they will finish no worse than 3. What this means is, if you win this game, you probably don’t have to face the Hookers until the finals…which is a really good thing, considering they are an approximate 17-3 in their existence (since 2007) in non-final playoff games.
Rich: The non-Elf in me is rooting hard for Fresh Kills, so we can get a possible Championship Game matchup of the two best franchises in the league. I think it will be a close low scoring game, with FK coming out with a 2-1 win.
Eli: Mike Dudolevitch, prominently pictured above, was not on the Rainbows in 2007. He might have been in high school back then. Fresh Kills, 3-2.
Derek: La Famiglia has struggled against the top division this season (even against WTP, they barely won), and this game will be no different. 4-1 win for FK.
Intern Nick: FK is too much to handle for all but the Hookers on a consistent basis, especially if they show their full lineup. Blue crew takes it 3-1.
